The New Jersey Pine Barrens

When we mention the Pine Barrens, more often than not we hear: I’ve always wanted to go there. This is your chance.

The NJ Pine Barrens encompass 1.1 million acres and are the “largest tract of wild land along the Middle Atlantic seaboard.” We’ll go deep into an Atlantic white cedar swamp, see a pygmy forest and blackjack oak, wander along breathtaking bogs, and visit a spectacular heron rookery at sunrise. We’ll also take note of the Pine Barren’s role as an industrial hub in early America, and as a culture set apart from the mainstream.

This is another of our 24-hour workshops (28 hours to be precise); an overnight stay is necessary.
